Patios can be made from many different materials. The most popular over the past 10 years are concrete paving stones, concrete, brick, natural stone, soft-set stone, or natural or synthetic wood options. Pavers though tend to be the most popular due to the endless color and texture combinations.
A few advantages is that concrete paving stones are stronger than any other concrete option, they eliminate any cracking due to their patterns which introduce many small joints running throughout the project. The subbase allows for movement, allowing for minimal damage to the surface layer. If there is any future work needed below the pavers (utilities, irrigation or drains), they can be removed like a zipper and work can be repaired below, then the repair can happen creating an area that looks untouched- concrete and other materials cannot provide this option.
Pest unfortunately are pests for this reason! The best way to manage your pests is to research organic solutions based on your specific pest or rodent. We try to protect all of our plants and natural lawns by installing gopher wire. Beyond that, we recommend finding a qualified professional to assist you in future maintenance.
Budgets are set based on your desires and needs. A total renovation is a larger responsibility and dictates a larger budget. We recommend doing each area of your yard correctly, not jeopardizing any part of the installation to costs. Rather phase out the different areas of your yard and with correct planning- you can have a new yard that is properly budgeted for.

Outdoor materials are tried and tested by the manufacturers to maintain their integrity and décor for years to come. A simple pressure wash with a broom, dawn soap is effective with oil stains, stainless steel polish for your appliances, and a nice microfiber towel to wipe all surfaces should be all you need.
